Launched in early 2004, LogMeIn Hamachi is a VPN, or Virtual Private Network, that allows users to access censored information on the web from an anonymous server location.

Currently, LogMeIn is available for Microsoft Windows, MacOS, and has some support for Linux machines. The application provides users a way to securely extend their LAN networks to distributed systems in minutes.

Paying users are able to run LogMeIn Hamachi in the background of their networked computers for consistent access even when the user is away from the keyboard.

Depending on your needs, LogMeIn Hamachi is an incredibly extensible and flexible VPN service. There are options for instant, managed, and individual networks for any degree of private browsing needed. Both individuals and large companies have opted for the LogMeIn service since it's a very scalable application.

There are three major types of managing networks: gateway, hub-and-spoke, and mesh networking.

With gateway access, users are able to provide remote clients with secure access to a fully private network or LAN connection. Network routers, firewalls, antiviral software, and other configurations will not have to be changed in order to provide clients with access.

Hub-and-Spoke virtual networking allows clients with specific computers to access the network, also without requiring any modifications to the firewall.

Last but not least, mesh networking is a simple network that lets remote machines make a direct connection with each other. Clients are able to request resources and share a network with any participating device.

Aside from these diverse ways to manage networks, LogMeIn Hamachi also provides embedded security measures to protect all company and private data. On both public and private networks, the highest degree of personal encryption is used to keep your identity fully anonymous.

At any time, users can change their security preferences through the Centralized Access Control panel. Users are able to change their passwords, network authentication, locking, and membership. Even the network and participating clients' settings can be changed at any time.

Ultimately, LogMeIn Hamachi is very easy to create, manage, and maintain. Individual users don't need any specialized knowledge of how networks, servers, and proxies actually work to competently use the software. However, more experienced users benefit from the advanced options available for tailoring the network to their needs.

Distributed teams, companies, remote workers, and individuals have all benefitted greatly from the diverse number of services offered by LogMeIn Hamachi.
